Organize Toys without a Playroom

What do you do when you don’t have a Playroom or a Bonus Room to store toys?
And…you have three kids with a lot of toys???
You get creative and find other places to stash organize all of the toys.
Here are seven simple stash solutions!

  #1 – Closets

This closet is in our entryway, and it holds a lot of fun things.  Art supplies, craft stuff, games, puzzles, books, our school books, and a few random things as well.  It also holds a craft bin for each of us, as sort of a catch all spot for each family member.

#2 – Dresser Drawers

When we did have a small Playroom, I discovered how great dressers were for storing toys.  Let’s just say, I haven’t looked back!  They automatically categorize your toys and give you that out of sight, out of mind feeling.  The above drawers are in my daughter’s room and perfectly help to sort the play dishes from the doll clothes and the actual dolls.

#3 – Corners

Don’t forget about little corners to create spaces where play can happen.  I am a huge fan of baskets, this hamper turned stuffed animal stash, works perfect to house all of the furry friends.  IKEA easel makes for a great art spot too.

#4 – Kids Closets

We have built ins in our daughters’ closets, so these make for great toy storage spots.  I took inexpensive bins, labeled them with my label maker and like that – we’ve got an organized play center.

Note to self – keep toys up very high that have lots of pieces and/or that you don’t like having out as much….shhh! 🙂

#5 – Family Room / Drawers

Our Family Room coffee table creates a great spot to tuck those DVD’s away, concealed, yet exactly where we use them.

 #6 – Under the Bed

So easy to separate by type of toy…blocks, legos, etc…

They slide out when you want to play and go right back under when done.

#7 – Bookshelves and Wall Shelves

This is in my oldest daughter’s room, since she is older she does not need as much room for toys, but more room for books.

When it comes to function and order in your home, be sure to think outside of the box.  Not all homes have the luxury of a full room dedicated to play.  If you are in this category, fear not, find simple ways to incorporate stash zones around your home, while still keeping your home looking like a home and not a toy store!
