Recently I helped a friend streamline her Laundry Room. I love organizing and I love doing laundry, so it was a perfect day!

First, I was in love with all of the glorious storage that she had at her finger tips!  I can only dream, as my Laundry/Mud Room is a walk through – like take two steps and you are through it.  Secondly, she also has a sink in her laundry room…yes I am jealous.

She shared with me that she is not organized, but that she likes her counters clean and surfaces bare.  Hmmm…what Shape Style does that sound like?  I thought for sure she was a Circle.  After she took the my Shape Style Survey – it was true, she scored an A+ for Circle Shape! She has a beautiful home, that is so warm and inviting.  She only struggles with putting things away in an organized fashion.  I took some time to help organize her cupboards and also passed on some ideas on how she can better maintain the “insides.”  It was an easy and fun project.

I only tackled the cupboards, and created “Zones”- to help her to better put things away where they belong.

1-box holds manuals

2-paper goods

3-light bulbs

1-extra kitchen items

2-extra kitchen products

3-extra food

I encouraged her to go buy some cute bins to store the manuals, paper goods and light bulbs.

My vote would be something like this-

This would give her a catch all for each “Zone” and the ability to label them as well.  I would go for a color though to give a pop of contrast against the white cabinets.  The bottom shelf would have a look or conformity and order while still being very functional!   Bins may be found at the Container Store.

When I tackle any organization project – big or small I follow my ABC’s…

1-Analyze – pull out everything.

2-Beautify – clean as you go, and donate/recycle/toss/return any and all items.

3-Categorize – create “Zones” for the item groups and organize!
