Weekly Lunch Menu for Kids

Like you didn’t see this one coming. 🙂  I’ve always got menu planning on the brain, why?  Because apparently everyone in my house likes to eat several times a day.

When we recently had our little family meeting and came up with a Breakfast schedule, I got to thinking, why stop there?  I decided to go all crazy and do a Lunch schedule too.  Of course I asked for some suggestions and boom like that we were more organized!  I even went for extra credit and typed a list for the fridge.  Gold star please.  Having this list helps me with my weekly grocery shopping and menu planning.

The Problem:
Me at 7ish – I have a hard time being creative without a plan and found that I didn’t always have the right supplies on hand at lunch packing time.  I also have a rule of no nuts – from the school – which can make it that much more challenging to pack lunches.

The Solution:
In an attempt to help me to stay excited motivated prepared with making lunches, and also to make sure that I have the supplies on hand when I need them, we came up with a weekly Lunch schedule.  Take a look…

Rules
Mom makes lunch and puts it by the front door before you have to leave for school.
Time Outs will be given for any complaining.
Our motto will be – you get what you get and you don’t throw a fit!
*Constructive feedback regarding lunches is welcome – as long as the tone/attitude is appropriate.

Weekly Menu (we just focused on the main dish so to speak)
Monday – Jelly/Cream Cheese Sandwich
Tuesday – Turkey/Cheese Sandwich
Wednesday – Burrito or Quesadilla
Thursday – Cheese & Crackers
Friday – Yogurt or Cottage Cheese

The Results:

When I’m stumbling through the kitchen in the whee hours of the morning I have one less thing to think about, yippee!
*KISS – Plan, plan, plan, and then go with the flow!
